I've received a phone call from ASDA earlier - I've to go to my store on Wednesday at 8pm to 10pm for a group interview selection thing.

Has anyone else done this with ASDA?  What will I have to do?  I'm worried!

It'll be the same as my TESCO interview: your given situations, and asked what you would do. For example, they'll ask what you would do if a customer asks for help while your in the middle of something. It's mind-numbingly dull. wink.gif

Basically, give a good impression and your in. smile.gif

I got a phone call from Tesco asking me to come to an Open Day. I don't know if it's an interview type thing or not.

smile.gif But at least it's semi-promising.

Good luck! You'll be fine!

I also got a letter from Tesco to say that I'd passed the application form stage. So I assume that meant the personality quiz thing! :-/

Yeah, when I looked at the form some of the questions were asking the same thing, so I tried to make it seem concurrent.

Still, it seems pot luck with those personality tests! All I've to look forward to now is what will happen at the open day! :-/

Ok! I think the interview went fine! The guy was much taller than me (I'm 6' 2"). He said that he liked my tie and he was going to wear the same one today but he couldn't because he was wearing a pink shirt lol.

He asked me a lot of questions, and I felt I relied too heavily on my yearbook (as examples of team work, conflicts etc) and my job in Watt Brothers (which he had never heard of before).

Ugh and he asked me about listening - when have I listened and it's improved my situation. I said my driving lessons - listening to the instructors instructions and getting better at driving. He then asked if I've sat my theory - I said no. He also asked how I got on in my Highers this year.

He said the job is seasonal - what does that mean?

I should find out before Monday he said smile.gif.

Well he said it will be Saturday and maybe sunday or one day during the week, however, I obviously can't work one day during the week when I start uni. Yeah if it's seasonal (i.e. up to Christmas) it will be during uni time.

At ASDA, seasonal means that you do have a permanent job. You are required to work 10 weeks (or round about that) of the year...usually at xmas hence seasonal. But if you want to you can work all through the year...as long as you work at xmas. But because its seasonal, ther isny usually that many hours available for you. But, sayin that, I kno a cupl ppl who started as seasonal workers but became part time workers strate away. I think it mite be a way of getn u to only be contracted to a bare minimum amount of hours but they will give you extra shifts if you want - so they have less holidays to pay you for!

Well, thats wot a seasonal colleage is in my store...your one mite be a bit different!

I'm confused. When they initially phoned my up about the group selection think they said it was a minimum of 10 weeks. Does working Saturday and Sunday count as one week? Or 7 days? i.e. do I have to work a minimum of 70 days?

So, if I work all my 10 weeks up to christmas, my hours could be extremely erratic afterwards depending on whether they need me? i.e. they could maybe only need me once a fortnight etc? So this isn't a temporary job then?

They say you can get away with 10 hours of work per week while studying at uni. I am looking for a job for during uni as well. I think you still need some extra cash for socialising and clothes etc, regardless of the grant/loan you have.

The work load in 1st year isn't as bad as later on. My big brother's friend only had to give up his part time job when he got to his Honour's year.

To give u a hint, the amount I have to pay b4 spendin any of the money on me is £190! so I need to work extra just to give me money to live on!

Yeah, my brother's worked the whole way through uni, he's only quitting now that he's going into his final year. It's doable.
