Always lean in, never fold your arms, smile and always give them eye contact.
And usually they ask you to tell them good things about you(2 or 3) and a bad thing, and why you want to work there and think of a time when you worked in a team and be confident even if youre not normally confident pretend. I sounds stupid but it works.
edit: and always think of a couple of questions to ask at the end because it makes you sound more interested.

Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:

Nope I haven't. Still got the delights of that to look forward to!
Basically I have to go out there and sound arrogant as hell and tell the interviewer I'm fantastic, though, don't I lol?! smile.gif

The trick is to be "arrogant as hell" without actually sounding arrogant.

Ok- having got 5 jobs from interviews and having to choose recently I can help you. First I will run over and add to what other people have said and then put my own wee bit in.

This is very important. You should practice your answers to common describing questions to ensure that you dont just automatically say a one word answer. By the same token, if someone asks you a short question like have you worked before, dont talk too much.

This is called the practice of using good body language. Mirror the interviewers actions (but not everything) and dont stare at them . NEVER sit hunched or slouch or cross your arms-this makes you look agressive.ALWAYS get comfortable before the interview starts so you dont shift in the chair. If they ask for a bad thing then never admit to anything too bad- say something like you are a perfectionist or are sometimes too ambitious and then beat yourself up when you dont meet your targets.

These are called key phrases and interviewers love to hear these, make sure you put them in answers to the appropriate questions though otherwise you'll just be talking about yourself and seem arrogant.

Questions to ask:
How many hours would I be working?
Is there a uniform?
Are there any other duties I would be expected to perform?
and if you really cant think of anything then theres at least one you can ask:
When will I find out whether I have been successful or not?

So in summary:
Prepare answers
Be aware of your body language and make sure you smile
Never admit to an actual bad point!
Use key phrases
Ask questions

Now for my two cents, so to speak:

Always wear something more formal than your actual job will be, shirt and trousers not t-shirt and jeans!
Have clean shoes
Have clean teeth
Do not chew gum
Do not wear excessive ammounts of aftershave or hair gel

I think thats it, tips for the perfect interview there....
Most of all dont worry if you forget some of this because no-one gets it perfect and most people still get the job, be confident.

It went quite well - it was for a part-time job in Tesco Dunblane. Will find out in the next few days... unsure.gif

It was a group interview for 3 candidates - very bizarre. Almost as if we were competing against each other! huh.gif blink.gif

probably all 3 of you (or at least 2) will end up with the job! just going by what is standard for safeway (i'm thinking other supermarkets might be the same) they generally only interview you if they think you'll probably get the job!
when i'm dancin' with you,
tomorrow doesn't matter,
turn that music up,
till the windows start to shatter,
cos you're the only one who can get me on my feet,
& i can't even dance

I've received a phone call from ASDA earlier - I've to go to my store on Wednesday at 8pm to 10pm for a group interview selection thing.

Has anyone else done this with ASDA? What will I have to do? I'm worried!
