"More than 100 Scottish schoool pupils failed their exams because they defied a ban on mobile phones"
"A total of 519 pupils suspected of cheating were reported to the SQA after this years exams. They included 3 cases where pupils took in electronic devices other than mobile phones"

and so they should fail biggrin.gif . When I was studying Highers at college the amount of students who cheated through the NABS was shocking (I am a mature student). I found it very unfair for those of us who work hard and get lower grades than the cheats. When I was in my higher sociology exam I could actually hear a personal stereo playing music believe it or not! I think the NABS in particular should be tougher and too much cheating is going on............Good luck with your results by way! rolleyes.gif

did these people know they were going to be failed after they left the exam hall? I mean did these people actually get physically caught in the act when they were doing the exam and told to hand over the phone>?

Some guy's phone went off in one of my exams this year. He got told to leave but he was like "nah, ur alright" and they let him stay. As for cheating, I know one guy brought in a "How to do Paper 2" booklet and hid it under his Higher History paper, he thinks he's failed anyway though. I've heard about people writing stuff on their calculator cases as well in the past.

Are these numbers more or less than last year? Could this mean the grade boundaries could drop a little? wink.gif

i take my phone into the hall, but give it to the invigilator. Then, that way they cant really say that i was using my phone lol!. (oh, and i give it to them before the start of the exam, rather than during lol)

As an honest type of person, I have to say I would never cheat in any kind of real formal examination or any other kind for that matter! I am, however, not shocked at these statistics at all. Some people get depressed, others desperate, some have bad situations to deal with that leave them little time to study but most cheats are either lazy or stupid or both. I want to know what the other electronic devices were! These numbers are more than last year but only slightly- if I remember rightly. Listen carefully, I can only really advise on English but, I can categorically say that cheating does not effect the grade boundaries in any subject. This is especially true for English what with plagerism going on for years etc.
Half ideas, half quality, half a million pound law suit!

The most unnoticable form of cheating which defies all examiner's eyes is quite simple. It works only for multiple choice though. Signal the question number, and wait while your friend taps their forehead for A, Nose for B, Lips for C, Chin for D, Throat for E.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Yup I know exactly what you mean.

For the simple reason,I either left my phone at home which was really hard or left it in my locker.
