Haha, seen that one before though! Might have been on WorldWind I saw it rather than Google Earth though.

Yeah, definitely - if we lived in the USA it would be better but hopefully it will work just as accurately for the UK soonish.

World Trade Centre blink.gif

http://virtualearth.msn.com/default.aspx?c...le=h&lvl=16&v=1

Some pretty out of date image files clearly.

The zoom is slow compared with Google Earth as well but the locating features are cool, for the USA at least.

It's definitely the World Trade Centre.

Google Earth has some more up to date imagery.

The imagery's just taken from satellite cameras and on board aircraft but the Manhattan files (and probably many more) are obviously >46 months old.

Well they obviously cannot have real time images as they would need thousands of satellites and even more servers (the least of their worries for something like that!). The majority of the Google images are 2 to 3 years old.

Well, they have to make do with what they have. Google Satellite has old images (not as old) and everybody went on about its use of AJAX in Google Maps...something that has been around since about 1998 and was used in numerous scripts before that. Now, I can't click any technology related link about PERL, Python, PHP etc. without reading about AJAX (Okay I joined the buzz of it for a few months earlier this year tongue.gif). Anyways, places and people constantly change and it is damn near impossible to keep up with these changes. Think of the satellites taking these pictures then think of the world. Coastlines are a much larger area than the WTC and they change every milisecond. tongue.gif Try keeping up with that,
