I went into school today to hand back some chemistry books and my chem teacher (who is also a marker for the SQA Higher Chem paper) said that he has marked 200 high chem papers and the average of them has a score of 36 in the second part of the paper!

sad.gif ....i think i only got 31 in the second part from my estimates

He said it must mean it wasnt that hard

im scared i'll get 60 or 61% and not get a B cos they make a B a high percentage. sad.gif

It wont work like that basically that would mean the pass mark could be sixty odd percent which would never happen.

No the pass mark can go up from 45% to 50% for a C
then go up from 60% to 65% for a B
then from 70% to 75% or even 80% for an A

Possibly yes. I doubt the pass mark will go up by too much.

I don't think this sample of 200 papers from a few (probably pretty respectable) schools is a useful indicator in making hypotheses for the final grade boundaries. Let's not speculate any more as there will not be any publications on the grade boundaries until after the results come out.

To be honest, looking at past grade boundaires, the SQA have never increased a grade boundary by more than 2%. Seeing as last years chem was 60% i dont think it will go over 62% hopefully.

Wrong Mr Shakur. The most the SQA have raised a grade boundary by was 3% in Chemistry.

They don't have grade boundaries from before 2002 on the SQA website.
