And this was supposed to be for a good cause? I mean, why give celebs £7000 worth of goodies at a charity event. Celebrities aren't charity cases, are they? jeez.

He's foolish to think that if he stood there, the police wouldn't have given him a kicking giving the fact he's probably launched a lot of missles at them.

So the police should be allowed to smash a truncheon into someon's face because he stands in their way? Get a grip. That's what we saw in Nazi Germany and Japanese P.O.W camps.
Capital punishment is illegal in this country. Why should police be allowed to start dishing it out on people who have had nothing proved against them?

so yobs and thugs should just be allowed to get away with it?? even though the police witness it??.. just because they arnt proven in court (due to lack of physical evidence..)dosnt mean that the police should just stand there and watch. people expect rights, but if u arse about with them and expect the society to be kl with that, wake up!! theres peaceful protest and theres yobs breaking car windows.. but in a democratic society.. the police wont do anything about that, cos people are just protesting??.. im glad the police physically crack the living day lights out of people who think they can get away with such havock.

Of course not. But under normal circumstances the police could not beat people to a pulp. And because police witness it is no better reason than if you or I witnessed it - it does not justify such brutality.
Well, I don't support the damage of individual's property, nor do I support random assualts on police. I was referring to the policing of perimeter fence and march today. Police dogs were set onto protestors for crying out loud.
But when policing is indiscriminate, as we have seen 3 days running, then how can you? When peaceful protestors leave the scene with huge weals on their backs and their heads split open, is it justified?
And if the police begin to act aggressively, then I hold the belief that protestors should have every right to defend themselves from state brutality, for example the mounted charges today.
Oh, and yesterday I had a visit from a guitar buddy of mine who had been demonstrating. When he asked an officer where he could find a public toilet, what was the response? Riot shield in the face. This was an english officer, who had no serial number on his uniform either.

The march yesterday in Edinburgh wasn't even that violent though. The police were too heavy handed aswell. I mean there were around only 500 protestors (who incidentally didn't want to be there) and loads of police.

This anarchist, anti-everything brigade undoubtedly represents a failure of the political process. The fact that large numbers of people believe they cannot influence government through the democratic process is a real problem. But that does not excuse the laziness of those who just want to shout and scream about the inequity around us and take no responsibility for proposing a solution.
the police are trained, they are the best qualified for their job. The police dont work on "then and there facts", the police have researched and looked at problems in previous situations, they just dont go around smacking people for no reason. The side you take is the people, the protesters, why dont u make it even and look at it from the prospective of the police?? can you imagine having to deal with a bunch of people whos reputation isnt exactly any good (rather horrific).
Police dogs were set on to protestors for a reason. The police just dont send dogs for the fun of it to see people being chewed up!
Anarchist protesters have never been depicted as "peaceful protesters" and they most definately proved that fact in many a places in edinburgh and scotland in the past 3 days. Like i clearly said before.. police use their powers when they need to and when they have been forced to.. not just because they want to. Sorry about your buddy, maby he got in the way and looked like someone who wanted to do more than just ask where the toilets were.
