I didn't understand the question about the shaded columns in the table. No marks for me on that question!
For Q1 in Paper 2 what was the other product when the fatty acid was made from the fat? I said hydrogen. :/

- I said both hydrogen and carbon dioxide would be left at the end because:

metal + acid = salt + hydrogen gas
metal carbonate + acid = salt + water + carbon dioxide gas

and there was a metal and a metal carbonate reacting with the acid. (Think I'm remembering this right!) Standard grade stuff though really isn't it... always catches you out huh.gif

Oh just remembered something from doing past papers in rushed chemistry revision yesterday - came across something which looked like Benedict's solution is the same thing as Fehling's solution... is that right?! Seems kinda weird that they'd have two names for the same thing. Or I could just have totally got the wrong end of the stick stuart.gif

what was the answer to why they used STARCH?

i said because its easier to see a colour change.
