So the Big Bang occurred and thus the Universe was created.
The Universe has been expanding ever since the Big Bang.
But what is outside of the matter of the Universe? - i.e. what is the "nothingness" that the explosion of the Big Bang has not yet reached? "Reaching nothingness", I'm already gettting confused!

How can we define what is outwith the Universe? If we call what is outwith the Universe "nothing" or "nothingness" then we are of course saying that there is no matter, no air, no atmosphere, no latent energy. This is what the Big Bang theory states, right?
However, how exactly can "nothing" exist? "Nothing existing" - isn't that statement self refuting?! My choice of words could probably be improved but can nothingness be defined if it does not exist?
Does anyone think there is a good definition of such nothingness?
Clearly I am confused but I'm sure someone will be up to the task of trying to explain a response or two to my queries... smile.gif

lol thats a good point bred. i didnt think it like that. If all of space is defined as one "universe" then how can it be expanding into nothingness?
