Q8(a)(i) Does it matter what branch you put the Oh on e.g, why can it not be:

The answer is:

Hmmm... the answer is the second one.
This one:

The clue is that in the question it says '2 - hydroxypropanoic acid'. Therefore, the -OH group should be attatched to the 2nd C atom.

I found that 2001 paper really hard compared to other chemistry years and prelims, etc. Does anyone agree?

Yeh i agree, I got 67% ish by my marking and for me that is not very good, I was also using the textbook for some of the questions lol. Doh.
