I know that most of us are off to uni in September/October, so until then, how many of you are getting a summer job?

I've started hunting and spent yesterday morning antagonising shop owners in Glasgow. Eight CV's later, I have one interview for the Bear Factory.

I hope I get it, it'd be fun to work in there.

Good luck! If you get it that will be you with 2 jobs! Oh it's Tuesday today, I have some Daily Record reading to do! tongue.gif.

Yeah, I need to look for a job too. I had a PT one in Watt Bros. (which I absolutely hated!).

Nope, just the one. That job's finishing on the 7th. *sobs*

I've taken it quite badly. But it's ok. They're letting me stay on to do gig reviews. They're kind to me.

!!! No more of your chat room stuff? I've just read this weeks article right there! I think they should have published it on a Monday, along with Joans Juniors, or move Joans Juniors to a Tuesday so the 2 teen related things in the paper are on the same day.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

I'm not actually 100% sure yet, I'm working in the department of epidemiology (which is like medical statistics). Apparently they have a "project" for me.

lol, I went there for work experience in 4th year. The reason I got the job is my mum is friends with a professor there. The pay isn't too bad too (well for people our age).

you'll be surprised!! just print up several copies of your CV and a letter and just go and hand them in everywhere, id do it quickly, cause people that go home from unis are also looking for jobs just now too, so theres a bit o competition!!

i'm quite lucky - i managed to get a lot of extra hours at work last summer, & i'm hoping for the same this year! dunno if it'll happen though. its not a major issue if it doesn't though, i don't desperately need to learn lots of money before going back to uni or anything - as long as i keep earning what i'm getting at the minute, i'll survive!
when i'm dancin' with you,
tomorrow doesn't matter,
turn that music up,
till the windows start to shatter,
cos you're the only one who can get me on my feet,
& i can't even dance

In Feburary I sent 8 letters away to 8 different shops. Heard from John Lewis and M and S, but didn't want to work there.

In April, I wrote away to 5 Accountants. All 5 got back and Deloitte gave me an application form. I filled it out and was asked to attend a Psychometric Testing Session and Interview. I went to the testing session and it was full of 2nd and 3rd year Uni students and me - not even 17 and a half and still at school. I had the interview last week but I know I won't get anywhere because Im so young.

However, on Saturday I had an interview for WHSmith in Sauchiehall Street. Got offered the job on Sunday, so I'll be working there. biggrin.gif

I am really desperate for a job. I have the feeling people dont like me and particularly female managers feel threatened, why are they all so short? It makes me seem so damn tall and skinny.
Half ideas, half quality, half a million pound law suit!
