i substituted in all values from -2 to 2 into x

is that wrong, can i get a few marks.

I got the right answer for the last question so I'm really hoping they don't dock me 7 marks just because I did the first part a different way...

I got the correct proof but in your answer you worked out the midpoint of AB and used that as the point to sub into the equation whereas I simply used A(1,0). Will I lose any marks for this?

I got the right answer for the last question so I'm really hoping they don't dock me 7 marks just because I did the first part a different way...

- I done synthetic division using x = -1 in order to get an expression with many P's as being the remainder.

- I stated that since (x+1) is factor the remainder = 0.

- From this I worked out the value of p (I think it was 1 or something)

- I then substituted this p=1 into the original equation to get the proper cubic equation (with no P's left)

- Using synthetic division (i.e factorising using the table) I took x=-1 as a factor and then factorised the equation to get a qaudratic

- I made this quadratic equal to 0 and worked out that the only root was x = -1, and then I said that this occurred when p = 1 (since that is what I had originally substitiuted into the equation)

what the? all you needed to do is use the discriminint but u might get marks for that none the less.
