If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Did it not say the persons name was Karen or something anyway? Because then it's quite obvious it's a female, without having to say it. IMO.

'New Yorkaise' is implying that the person is a girl (and the markers want to see that a candidate has realised and picked up on that). Personally i do think that makes sense and if u didn't state that the person who they were talking about was a girl, then it could be anyone from either sex.
O well, we will just have to wait and see.

Hi, Just wondered if someone could tell me what kind of topic the writing was on in the 2005 paper as my past papers only go up to 2004. Also in the 2005 Directed Writing does it involve a situation where you go to France or pupils from France come to Scotland? Thank you to anyone who could tell me this.
Now, it was long ago... but I vaguely remember the D/W last year being about sport. I wrote a big long speel about how there aren't enough sport facilities where I live and said that sport wasn't really my thing etc. etc.
Also, I'm pretty sure that you went to France. I think I went on a wee trip to Chartres because it was to be a small town near Paris.
You may cut me with your eyes,
You may kill me with your hatefulness,
But still, like air, I'll rise....
Just like moons and like suns,
With the certainty of tides,
Just like hopes springing high,
Still I'll rise."
