Hello,

Well, I have Higher Accounts and Higher Geography exams on the same day this year (May 16th), and I really feel as if there is a strong chance I could fail accounts.

I was wondering if anyone could offer any advice, i.e. do your teachers think question one will be a club account? Do you think there are *vital* topics I should revise for?

Basically I'm just looking for some general help as my teacher doesn't have much to say!

There is no way to fail accounts. People at my school did no studying at home and did half the class work and still scraped a C in the prelim.

Just calm down and even doing two of each type of question would help you. In Management since there is no layout just write down whatever you can and you'll pick up marks and leave the theory to the end when you have tried everything else then have a quick go at the theory and you should pick up another ten marks between the two theory questions.

As long as you learn the layout of a Manufacturing, Trading and Profit and Loss Account (including Appropration Accounts) and a Balance Sheet for a Company and Partnership you should be fine for the Compulsory question. Learn Income and Expenditure Accounts (i.e. Not for Profit Making) and your sorted for FA.

For MA, learn all the Decision Making stuff, as well as budgets and Process/Service Costing and your ok.

Theory - make it up if you don''t have a clue.

Just use your common sense for the theory. Although for my second prelim, 1/10 was the result for the Managerial theory!

I am almost certain that Clubs will turn up as the compulsory question, and am looking for it. Be ready for Clubs, they'll definitely be in there. As long as you know your Manufacturing layout and Companies, you'll be fantastic. You can't go too far wrong with some ratios either. I don't plan on revising Partnerships but I guess I might have to.

As for managerial, I'm not sure if they will drop Profix Max, but as long as you know Process Costing, Break-Even and Profix Max, plus Service costing, you really can't go too far wrong! It'll get you a pass anyway.

Is it not called "Not for Profit Making Concerns"?! tongue.gif

Service Costing - compulsory question in the SQP. Basically its just adding everything up and finding the total annual cost.

Then going on to do other stuff e.g. Mark Up/Margin etc etc
