The answers for the MC section of the exam from 1994 - 2005 can be downloaded below. I've checked them over a couple of times so, hopefully, they should all be correct.

Please note that the New Higher Chemistry syllabus was introduced in 2000 so it is likely you may not be able to answer some of the questions in the exams before 2000. These questions have now been greyed-out.

Update

The file has been updated to include the 1994 and 2005 answers. Questions from the Old Higher syllabus have also been greyed-out in order to prevent confusion over which questions you can/cannot do.

Nice work. An excellent resource if you don't have the paper copy of the past paper answers. thumbsup.gif

Edit: I just realised it goes right back to 1995 so that's even better!

Cheers! I'd really recommend getting a hold of as many past papers as you can for Chemistry. This is what it says in the exam guide for chemistry regarding MC:

QUOTE
There are 40 questions but no grids. Practise by doing past papers - more than 80% of the questions will have been asked in the past 10 years.

So, if you do get a hold of them - do the MC! biggrin.gif tongue.gif That's over 32 marks you can get!

I only have from 2000. Is anyone able to post the older multiple choice papers or is that against the SQA rules??

Apparently it is against the rules to post the questions but not the answers.

No, but the SQA will, people from the SQA have been on this form and said as much.

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

I think this is stupid, how on earth can you copyright a question?

Someone told me not to post a maths question - I don't see why this matters - how on earth can you copyright a maths question? lol?

I hate copyright.

They can make money by selling the questions though, the people that wrote the main higher maths textbook paid lots of money to the SQA to use past paper questions in their textbook.

Also, scholar makes a lot of use of old past paper questions, I wouldn't be surprised if they had to pay for using them.

Well, if I was to publish a book, with, say the full 2005 AH Maths past paper, I don't see how they could do anything, unless I specifically mentioned that it was the 2005 paper, and how many marks it was work.

You just can't do it, you can't copyright numbers!

These companies pay money to get the recognition that these are SQA questions that they have in their book.

Well exam boards down south have closed down sites which had past papers uploaded, so it's probably for the best that official SQA past papers aren't online on HSN.

They can't just close you down - they have to give you notice to remove the offending materials.

I used to have a website...and...was asked to remove such and such...or else!

These are the unofficial (tupacshakur's teacher's) answers to the 2005 multiple choice:

1) D 21) B
2) C 22) C
3) A 23) A
4) C 24) D
5) C 25) C
6) D 26) A
7) A 27) C
8) B 28) A
9) C 29) A
10) B 30) D
11) A 31) B
12) B 32) A
13) D 33) C
14) D 34) D
15) A 35) D
16) C 36) C
17) A 37) B
18) D 38) A
19) C 39) B
20) B 40) B

If those are the correct answers then I got 31/40 which I'm pretty happy with. Hopefully I didn't do too badly on Paper 2 - I should be able to drop up to half marks and still get a B.
