If anyone's interested, I've put my weather photos from the last couple of months online:
http://members.lycos.co.uk/br3d/twodescphotos.html
I thought I'd put this in here as opposed to the Higher Geography forum as it doesn't really have anything to do with that course.
I also have a few photos in the Holidays Thread
If you decide that you would like to use anyone's photos that are posted in this forum for your own means it is requested that you ask them first. smile.gif

I posted a fog photo twice, and replaced it with a flooding photo (first photo on page 4).
Nice sunset this evening, viewed from my house:

Edit: If you meant "where were the pictures taken?" then Page 1 is Cairngorm Mountain, Pages 2, 3, and 5 are all from my house except one which is under the south tower on the Forth Road Bridge. Same with page 4 except the crepuscular rays - they're over Winchburgh. smile.gif

This photo's from last Friday:

In this photo there is a phenomenon called Kelvin-Helmholtz instability. I only noticed this after I had uploaded the photo. Here is a close up - unfortunately the quality isn't really any better as my camera is only 2MP:

It isn't that clear in my photo however, although it is quite rare to see. Here is a brilliant example of Kelvin-Helmholtz waves (not mine):

Shaun, I do take quite a lot of photos (I've taken about 2,050 photos on my current camera that I've had since about the start of '03) but it is only a hobby. I am looking forward to taking some better photos with this new camera - the zoom on it is excellent! I will be sure to show them off here if I do snap some goodies! I bought the camera with the Kit 3 package here: http://www.ukdigital.co.uk/fuji_finepix_s5500.htm
The specification is here: http://www.dpreview.com/news/0407/04072805...nepixs5500z.asp
It's not an SLR and 4 megapixels (effective resolution) isn't nearly the highest you can get - but it is much better than the 2.1 megapixels I have at the moment, and should certainly be adequate. In terms of features it seems to be fantastic (e.g. it has a good movie mode) and IMO great value value for money. Hopefully it will last me for years and I will get loads of great photos with it!

Sorry for giving the impression this was an actual competition! The sub-title was "TWO Weather Spotting Competition Photos" because that is what I initially uploaded these photos for - TWO stands for The Weather Outlook. That competition is just a bit of fun and there are no prizes - here's the link: http://www.theweatheroutlook.com/weatherre...?TOPIC_ID=37131 By the way, my user name on that forum is "madnerb" - I've only got a few less posts on the forum there than this one (I'm a bit of a weather enthusiast too)!

Thanks - and what you've said is too true (unfortunately)!
I've just been down the beach (it is a 6 or 7 minute walk from my house) with my new camera:

Honestly Bred you are a good photographer. Do you know what you are doing, or do you just point and click?

Lol.

Thanks! biggrin.gif Well I used a mini tripod for that one but apart from that I pretty much just adjusted the view until I was satisfied then clicked! I took a few of the seals and that was the best one but I'm quite lucky to have got even one with one of the birds spreading it's wings like that as it's about to land. I've still to learn about most of the features of the camera but I've tried out the movie mode and that is excellent - the 30fps visuals and the audio. I can't wait to use it to film snowboarding and stuff!

No! So, do you just take photo's of specific things, like weather, or do you take photo's of lots of things?

Do you print them, or just store them on your computer?

I tend to just store them on my computer. However, the local weekly newspaper here, the Fife Leader, publishes photos from local amatuer photographers so I think I'm going to print some off and send them in (and hopefully get some published!)
I mostly take photos of weather phenomenon and landscapes but I'll snap at anything if I have a camera with me and I think it will look good!
