our common room is also red and blue and falling apart basically because the school was biult in to 1970's and cannot stand the test of time. However, this hasn't stopped the school making us pay £10 to use it to use on the event we "destroy" the place!! Of course we will get the money back if everything is ok

If i am not here i am somewhere else

Shhhhhhh... don't suggest that to our school.

Every year group has been thrown out of it eventually! But there isnt even enough chairs in it for everyone to sit down!

Next year I'm supposed 2 so Higher PSychology, French and Human Biology with Adv Chemistry altho I would rather take Adv History or H RMPS!

Doing Crash Adv History mite be a bit ambitious. You need to have good analytical and essay writing skills and it may help if you know a little about the period of time which you're going to study, just a little background.

View Post

ull have plenty to do with adv chemistry as theres so much to do

id do as little as possible to enjoy your sixth year and also take loads of pride in ur coursework

i really enjoyed doing my chemistry project which resulted in me getting top marks!!!

ideally do 3 ah's or 2 ah's and crash h
it all depends on which subjects tho

u also have to have a life outwith studying in ur last yr

I agree with James! Even 3 AH's may be pushing it I feel. I got all my grades I needed so I am doing 2 AH's and a H. Although I am not crashing the higher, I am doing Geography which I done at SG.

If you've got your grades there seems no point having to put yourself through endless studying for yet another year. Doing at least 2 AH's allows a good mix of 'working' without getting too lazy!

And 6th year really is when you have a life outside your studies...so I would aim to enjoy that!

Exactly, Mark!

This year, I can have a boyfriend and not feel guilty! Last year when I had Mal on the go, I ended up not seeing him because I was studying all the time. =/ We ended up breaking up because I had so much to do at school and my exams and stuff. Oh, and he was a lying scumbucket.

So this year I can see the new man in my life any old time I like! Woo!

Another good thing about 6th year is writing on the common room tables! Hours of entertainment!

Although someone rubbed off my ladybird in a top hat. Pfft.

All the mentions on the tables seem to be about all the same thing at the moment Lindsay!
Even tho some people are starting on the walls now, and runing about with brushes...and sitting garden knomes on the wee metal beam!

Hmmm...how long til we get thrown out ??? tongue.gif

Psh, I wrote on the wall last year in supported study. The good old, "I would write here but I don't do graffiti" carry on. tongue.gif

And I also started a "Tick me if you think Paula is sexy!"

I don't know how many times Paul can write "MON THE DIAMONDS!" though.

Its all good in 6th year from my perspective. Im doing 3 Advanced Highers in Maths, Physics & Computing. Only 2 of them are timetabled so i only have 10 formal periods out of a 30 periods a week timetable. Leaves me with plenty of time to do study, homework etc. Ive not had to do any homework at home this year! biggrin.gif All the free time allows for better learning aswell, im not hurrying from subject to subject. Im able to focus a lot better.

Sixth year is also good when I get to play with the CD player in the common room. No more Funeral for a Friend! Goo Goo Dolls all the way!

the best thing about 6th year is your social life and sitting back and having a laugh even for people who cant afford to (like me) judging by their exam results

One of the things i like about 6th year is the fact that after 3 years of constant hard work (i'm a keen rolleyes.gif ) i can basically do feck all. i love it. my dad says tonoght was one of the first times in years that he has come home from work and i've not been sitting doing verb tables or source questions or any other crappy subject. BLISS biggrin.gif

Anyone else's schools obsessed with cards in free periods? I have learned how to play lots of new games biggrin.gif

Cards!! Yes!! It's getting freaky, learning so many games. We're all gonna be able to have jobs in casinos if we fail our exams this year cause we're all getting too good!

We're all obsessed with cards too!! I think it must be some sort of law that as soon as you go into S6 you have to spend all your time playing cards laugh.gif

As well as becomming a card-maniac, I'm also rather obsessed with pool and table tennis now. Damn common room mad.gif biggrin.gif

A pool table sad.gif ...table tennis sad.gif ...common room...

we have DUN DUN DUN ..er...the dining hall and we're told we don't go to a good school we go to a GREAT SCHOOL dry.gif

The senior management team always come round and are like eh cards i dont think sooo we dont want betting going on in this school- aye watever.

To be fair i learned switch whilst i was away in brazil (it was our vice there rolleyes.gif ) so many people have different rules to it though. Some people use black queen as the 5 card thing, soe use black king...etcetc gets a bit confusing. Yesterday i learned a new game called 7 card _______ (not quite sure the last word) it was confusing but good. I like the game bullshit myself alhough i can never tell who's bullshitting and if i am the bullshitter i jsut laugh. i know that name sounds bad 'spesh in that sentence i tihkn it's called cheat or something too.

Oh God, yeah! Everyone has different rules for Switch, it's mad. I'm great at it, though. tongue.gif I play it by my dad's rules, so I get really confused when other people challenge me to a game. I never know if I'm coming or going.

Best game ever to play has to be snap. I was playing that one day with Scott and Gillian and Gillian was cheating. So when she went to snap, I'd go for it right after her and nearly break her hand. biggrin.gif

I love my friends dearly.
