Im almost done with the practical side of my investigation. Just need 1 more experiment biggrin.gif . Anyhow, i was wondering if anybody else has began to write up their report? Im assuming most people word process it. My question is to do with diagrams. Does anybody know whats best for creating/inserting diagrams into the report? Are you meant to just draw them yourself and scan them, or do it online with a graphics program eg photoshop?

we spent some tim ein the library with our teacher "showing" us what he would do. Basically we just did the diagrams using the draw package in claris works 4

when i was doing it last year, i just did my diagrams in word. but they were fairly basic diagrams really. the alternative (& the route that my friend used) was just to leave space & draw them into the correct place in the report once you've printed it out. each school will probably have their own preference though.
when i'm dancin' with you,
tomorrow doesn't matter,
turn that music up,
till the windows start to shatter,
cos you're the only one who can get me on my feet,
& i can't even dance

yes i mean i think there will be some in my class just hand writing the whole thing...actually i know who is hand writing it. I will just be using Word for the diagrams and excel for the graph i think

Good old ms paint can make pretty gd diagrams if you have the patience.
Then all you have 2 do is insert them into ms Word.

For physics diagrams I usually use Microsoft Viso.

Yep i have finished all of my experiments, and have started my writeup.
I have done the writeups for the 3 experiments, and now just got the front cover, contents page, intro and stuff like that to do smile.gif

i took 3 attempts at the 1st draft

i finished at 12:30 this morning so just put it on a disk to print at school

at school i get a laptop and the one i got was seriously messed up so spent 2 periods trying to print

Then i forgot it take it with me to physics and i was not amused

It's part of Microsoft Office, although I would guess many people won't have heard of it. You only get it in the more expensive versions of office, or stand alone.

See http://www.microsoft.com/uk/office/visio/p...fo/default.mspx for more details.

Microsoft say:

QUOTE
Visio 2003 lets you create business and technical diagrams that help you visualise your complex systems, sharpen communication and transform your business processes. With Visio, you'll spend less time designing, documenting and maintaining processes and systems - and more time planning for the future.

I use Macromedia Freehand for all my physics diagrams, The pen tool is extremely useful, draw lines and it smooths them out all nicely for you biggrin.gif.

Before I got access to this, I just used paint. It is fine if you take your time, not good for rush jobs.

Freehand is quite good as well, I used that for one of my drawings.

I handed in my investigation today, it's a relief I can tell you. Im really pleased though as my teacher (who marks AH physics investigations) has said it has the potential to get 25/25 which would be very useful tongue.gif

35 pages?!?!?! Are you kidding me? ohmy.gif I thought mine was long at 14 pages...

Is your project within the word limit of 2000 words? huh.gif

I think my physics one was 27 pages, my chemistry was 37.

Physics was about 3000 words, and chemistry was erm, substantially more, let's just put it that way.

You don't lose marks just for having more than 2000-2500 words, you lose the coherence mark if the report is difficult to read or contains lots of extra information which is not pertinant to the purpose.

Yeh my friend wrote more then recommended too. Not much more though. In fact, her whole class got an extension in order to make them write more
