Yeah, unfortunately we have to do alot of it and it kind of sucks cause its so much to remember. Matrices, trig crap, billions of calculus and algabra......bla bla bla ph34r.gif

Trying to remember is the hardest thing of all. I think that they should allow some sort of data book in the exam. Our brains are like swelling up with all this stuff you have to know and its like whoa man the heck is this all about, but we try our best.

Right, but you surely don't do ALL of it right. Say you did pure + applied, you just have a limited amount of say mechanics. er lol. unsure.gif

Yeah we dont have to do all of that stuff. I dont use AH maths stuff in AH Physics work.

The thing with maths right- theres so many techniques to learn that you end up forgetting half of it huh.gif so basically you need to have photogaphic memory to become a mathamatical genius. I have a good memory but no way a photographic one so theres always work to be done.

do you use the maclaurin series in advanced maths?
when i'm dancin' with you,
tomorrow doesn't matter,
turn that music up,
till the windows start to shatter,
cos you're the only one who can get me on my feet,
& i can't even dance

My favourite equation at the moment is:

 m= \frac {m_o} {\sqrt{1 - \frac {v^2} {c^2}}}

  • Interests:I'm me, I guess. I wear glasses, have short spiked hair, about 5ft 9 (I think). I left fifth year of school in 2005 and is currently unemployed. I used to go to Strathclyde University to do MEng Chemical Engineering, but I hated the course, so I quit. I've started doing MSc Mathematics, from September 2006, as I have a keen (almost unhealthy) interest in Mathematics, and its applications.<br /><br />The grades I achieved in the exams:<br /><br />1 - Standard Grade Mathematics<br />1 - Standard Grade Physics<br />1 - Standard Grade Chemistry<br />1 - Standard Grade Computing Studies<br />1 - Standard Grade Craft and Design<br />2 - Standard Grade English<br />2 - Standard Grade Geography <br /><br />A (Band 1) - Higher English<br />A (Band 1) - Higher Mathematics<br />A (Band 2) - Higher Chemistry<br />B (Band 3) - Higher Physics<br /><br />Anything else ya wanna know about me, PM me or add me to your MSN contact list and chat to me there. :P

You have a favourite equation? blink.gif

Mine'd have to be

\begin{align*}Satsifaction = \frac {Beer\, and \,curries\, consumed}{hunger\,and\,thirst}\end{align*}

[/mocking]

laugh.gif rolleyes.gif

I actually like the formula:

\begin{align*}\frac {d^2\psi}{dx^2} + \frac {d^2\psi}{dy^2} + \frac {d^2\psi}{dz^2} + \frac {\theta \pi^2m}{h^2} (E-v)\psi = 0\end{align*}

mainly because it's the most complicated formula I know (Schrodinger's wave equation)
