Well...i not really sure but that's what she said. I would go mental if i paid that sort of money and my child didn't even get into unversity. Well she said that they're sent to summer schools if they're not pulling their weight.

The House price thing affects all top state schools and private schools as well as universities i would think

I doubt it really comes into the equation with universities. However, I agree other top state schools will be affected, although I think with Jordanhill the effect on house prices is very substantial.

Well, considering you said "I would go mental if i paid that sort of money and my child didn't even get into unversity" then it suggests to me that, yes, you do link paying more to getting into uni.

dont you think that flat prices and the sort of accomodation that students look for will be inflated by the demand for the housing

^Agree with the above. I don't think I could have done better with my grades if I went to a private school. But I wouldn't mind getting the guidance that they receive.

I go to a state school - and I'm very happy there.

Of course it has it's neds and idiots like any other school, and there is a lot of attendance issues and school uniform issues and the results could be better (We're one of the top for Physics, but one of the lowest in Maths for the league tables). But some of the teachers I have are just really good teachers and I think that is the most important thing about education - who's teaching you.

And the money is spent when it needs to be smile.gif - we are geting 20 brand new Apple eMac computers shortly for out computing class!

Well, the nearest private school to me is Gordonstoun so *ahem* surprise surprise(!) I go to a regular state school.

I'm more than happy at the school I go to. I complain about it lots [it is a really very ugly collection of buildings] but it's good and I like it ^___^

If parents want to send their kids to private schools then so be it.

As long as the children and the parents are completely happy with the standard of education &etc. [whether it be in state or private schools] then surely that's all that matters.

Eh?
