Hi has anyone had an interview at any uni yet?
I have my interview at Strathclyde tomorrow, and im pretty nervous unsure.gif
I think they are going to interview all of the applicants, to get to know them, and to make sure that its the right thing that they want to do. Then after that they will give the offers.
Hopfully it should go well, and i should get my offer.

Is your interview at Strathclyde formal?

My friend had one at Strathclyde (I think) and he just said it was more like a discussion.

Good luck anyway!

Ah ok. I don't think there's any need to worry then.

He just said that they wanted to know how you were like; no searching questions were asked he told me.

Just read the letter again and it is a "General Discussion".
It also says that they will interview everyone that they are going to make and offer, who has appiled to the deparment of mechanical engineering.

I'm pretty sure the bf had an interview like that when he applied for EME at Strathclyde? When he gets back from wherever he is i'll ask him what it's like if you want.

Cows I call them "moos",
And sometimes silly folk,
They call my moos "coos".

I've had interviews at Glasgow and Cambridge so far. Just relax and do your best, they are not out to make you stumble (well apart from oxbridge). Be confident, don't overprepare and dress up nicely!

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it on you,
If you can trust yourself when all men doubt you
But make allowance for their doubting too,
If you can wait and not be tired by waiting,
Or being lied about, don't deal in lies,
Or being hated, don't give way to hating,
And yet don't look too good, nor talk too wise:
Yours is the Earth and everything that's in it,
And--which is more--you'll be a Man, my son!

Glasgow went quite well I think although I am yet to hear back from them.

I really enjoyed my time at Cambridge. The First interview was very academic and had topics which included all of the sciences. It wasn't horrible but I could have done better. I really enjoyed my second interview at Cambridge, it was a lot of fun. We spent 30 mins(!) talking about liver transplantation and various medical issues. Then we spent a further 45 minutes talking about diabetes and various other conditions. In the end I had to pretend that I was a medieval doctor and decide how I would recognise the difference between Diabetes Mellitus and Diabetes Insipidus. I got the right answer - drink the patients urine and if it's sweet it is Mellitus and if is not it is insipidus. That talk was very entertaining and we were all laughing by the end of it.

I had some other strange questions at Cambridge like "Why don't people have wheels?"

Another Cambridge medic was asked to pant like a dog!

I should find out whether I am in on December 31st

Lol. What was your response to the wheel question? Quite a strange one.

I didn't know the interviews were that long... 1 hour and fifteen minutes?! Were you given water, as my mouth would just totally dry up.

It was only supposed to go on for 3/4, they ran over time big time.

To the wheel question I said mutation was a random process, and that wheels were not efficient in all circumstances (can you see yourself mountain climbing with a wheel?)
