Ok i DME is a decision making exercise and heres wot u do.

1. You get 3 sources two written from a differing point of view and the other stastical.

2. U have to read through all the sources then do some little evaluating questions which are made up to be worth 10 marks. They are more use to get to no the sources than anything else.

3. Then u have to do the DME and wot u have to do is recommend a course of action to a government minister or the chairman of blah!! And u decide wot you are going to do based on the sources and then write a report which will contain arguments for and against your case!

Example: Recommend to the Health Board whether or not the should introduce private health insurance.

BTW it may not be about health care if u do income and wealth at your school but the principle is exactly the same.

If u have any questions dont hesitate to ask.

Hope this helps! xx

It's either on health care or income and wealth: most schools and colleges do health care...

One of the most important things to do is to break it up under headings: this is both "a style appropriate to a report" and helps you manage the information. It should go something like:

Recommendation

Supporting Evidence

Evidence Against (The souces are designed so that they could support eitherrecommendation)

Refute Evidence Against

Restate Recommendation

Also:

Quote your souces; you must use background knowledge; and play the role set in the paper.

Any more specific questions? (Fortunately, I teach this area).

A question about the DME

I know that it has to be written in a report style e.g.

To
From
Date

Remit

Arguments for

Arguments Against

Conclusion

but for the Arguments for and against can they be written in bullet points or does it have to be sentences blink.gif

I get the DME now - It seems to be a glorified ES Question from SG

Well i think that is underestimating the task slightly! It requires the same skills but isa worth a hell of a lot more marks and you have to have a lot more knowelge of the course as well as backgroung knowelge to get a good mark for it. It is quite invovled as the info given is somethimes not all that helpdul for thinkin of reasons for and against your arguement.

It takes practise and the time is tight.

Dont under-estimate it it is not as easy as at first it seems!
